Thanksgiving Wreath

Thanksgiving Wreath

I love wreaths!  I think they just make a happy statement when somebody comes to your door.  Or even when someone drives by your house and looks at your door!  I like to change my wreath up every month or so, but I have been known to forget and leave my Halloween wreath up til it’s time to decorate for Christmas – ooops!

I wanted to make one for my SIL’s bday this year.  So I went to Pinterest, the go-to website for crafty ideas.  I found this wonderful burlap & fabric circles wreath.  Loved it!  Decided to run with it.

bought a foam wreath form at the Dollar Store.  It wasn’t exactly round, kind of boxy actually – but that was ok, figured it might be easier to attach the circles anyway.  I wrapped the wreath form in burlap, using hot glue to attach it here and there to make sure that it was wrapped tightly and would stay.

Then I bought a couple of those 6×6 fabric stacks from Wal-Mart in some great Fall colors and patterns.  I already had some burlap left over from the UA burlap door hanger I made for my sister.  I cut the fabric into a couple of different sized circles and did the same for the burlap.

The next step is to just attach the circle all over the wreath.  Some of them should overlap to cover most of the burlap underneath.  I tried not to place two of the same patterned circle next to one another but that was almost impossible!  I used scrapbooking brads to attach them to the wreath.

The finished product included a sunny, happy polka dotted yellow ribbon with a little raffia to hang the wreath.  I stamped Happy Thanksgiving on some cardstock and then draped them across the wreath with twine and mini clothespins.  You could change out the sentiment to say whatever you wanted and use different patterned fabric to make this wreath your own!
