Farewell Summer Teacher Gifts

Farewell Summer Teacher Gifts

Farewell Summer!  Oh how sweet it was to have two extra weeks to enjoy the lazy days of summer, (Thank you State of Alabama!)  Those extra 14 days we would normally be in school zipped by quicker than a lightning bug when you are trying […]

Hello Baskin Robbins

Hello Baskin Robbins

Baskin Robbins opened in the shopping center just up the road from us a few weeks ago.  On opening day the crowds were crazy!  It was like people had never seen ice cream before.  Of course I’m sure it helped that they had bounce houses […]

An Entrepenuer in the Making

Lael got Bendaroos for Christmas.  Soon after, probably about January 5th, she forgot about them.  Two days into summer vacation she declares that she is bored.  Over the next few days, I play a few games with her, hunt down some Play-Do, they go on the water-slide, we go to the pool, we baked Chace’s cookie cake, she re-reads some books she owns for probably the 17th time………summer has barely started and we are struggling!  I informed her that I am not her teacher!  I am not in charge of her entertainment, she is going to have to find something to do to entertain herself.  So, she goes digging through her closet and comes out with Bendaroos.  She starts twisting and braiding these into necklaces and bracelets.  Then she decides that she should sell them to make money for whittling wood.  This is another hobby that she has been badgering Todd to let her try.  I’m not so sure a 7 yr old girl with a bit of anger management issues needs access to a knife!  Anyway, Todd told her to save her money and he would get some whittling wood for her.  She made a sign stating the cost of the different kinds of bracelets and necklaces.  They range in price from $0.25 – $2.00.  I didn’t think much of it when she told me she was going out to sell some Bendaroo stuff.  1/2 hour later she returns with a profit of $4.80!  Wow!  Pretty good markup for an amateur Bendaroo jewelry craftsman, or maybe I just have some kind-hearted neighbors!!!!

Hello Summer Party

Hello Summer Party

I had been thinking about having a Hello Summer Party for a while.  My original plan was simple.  I wanted to paint a huge sign and stretch it between the mailboxes on our street that said something about School’s Out – Summer’s Here.  Then the […]

First Pool Trip

This afternoon we made our first trip of the summer to the pool.  The kids have been asking for several weeks now, but they just opened the pool this weekend, so today after school was the day!  We packed up all the diving toys, water […]

Sprinkler Fun

You know summer is nearly here when you get a sprinkler going, toss in a few boys and watch them hoot & holler as the cold water splashes over them.  This particular day they were at Aimee’s house and she got some great shots.

Boo-Hoo!

I was too proud of my new patio!!! I had not even had anyone over yet for a dinner or a get-together or anything, and now we have no table to sit at! A stupid summer storm blew up out of nowhere yesterday afternoon. I […]

Slide + Water + Slip&Slide = Fun

Slide + Water + Slip&Slide = Fun

Caeden and Lael have been begging to get out the huge waterslide now for weeks. I keep putting them off, it is a big pain – I guess I am just being lazy. Anyway, Todd worked out a deal with them today. He put out […]

First Day at the Pool!

We made it to the pool today. The twins have been dying to go since it opened on the 1st. I kept telling them it was going to be cold – but they didn’t believe me. They believe it now after jumping in and freezing! They played it brave for a while, but then had to climb out and wrap up in a towel. They spent most of the remainder of the time playing on the pool deck and eating snacks.

Veggie Garden

Veggie Garden

We did it this year, we planted our garden. We had one years ago while Todd was in the Navy, but it was not right in our backyard and the twins were only a little over a year old, so we were not able to […]

Alabama Adventures

I took the first step yesterday in planning some fun for our summer.  I bought season passes to Alabama Adventures. What is cool is that I got them for half price! Several of the news stations here in Huntsville do these promotions where they offer […]
