Halloween

Halloween

Halloween fun at our house sometimes starts early in the month when I drag out the Halloween decorations from the attic to turn our house into the scariest house on the block.  However, since my next door neighbor decorated her house early, (and by early, […]

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin Carving

Let it be known that from now on, I will not wait until the last minute to buy pumpkins to carve.    I don’t know why I waited so long this year, but Halloween was fast approaching, like 2 days away actually and we had […]

It’s Halloween!

It’s Halloween!

Halloween is big business around here. All the kids from our street gather together to go trick or treating every year, plus a few extras thrown in for good measure. It is rather difficult to keep 15-20 kids together moving from house to house. We, the parents, just basically try to corral them on one side of the street and to stop at the end of the block to wait on the others to catch up. Our neighborhood is pretty big, with lots of intersecting streets. The good thing is that it is fairly level and the houses are close together, so it makes for pretty easy trick or treating. This year Lael dressed up as an Indian, Caeden was a mummy, I was sort of going for a gypsy look, but put together with items from my closet, so technically it wasn’t much of a costume, lol!! After we get about halfway into the neighborhood, the kids start complaining that they are tired, their bags are heavy, they are thirsty, their feet hurt, their costume is itchy, they are ready to go home and check out their haul! But, of course we have to walk all the way back!!

H*A*L*L*O*W*E*E*N

I was late this year getting our SPOOK on at the Anderson house, but that doesn’t mean I cut back or went into slacker mode! Oh no, my neighbors have had some spooky stuff out for a while now – so I knew I had […]

Halloween Party

Halloween Party

It’s Halloween! My second favorite holiday behind Christmas!! Our next door neighbors hosted a Halloween party this year that was a lot of fun. There were so many cute Halloween foods, I had to take a picture of each to keep in my files for future parties!

There were also some fun games that the kids enjoyed. This was a nearly impossible feat since the age ranges were from 7-13! They did the classic dunking for apples. I was really surprised that most of the pre-teen girls got into that one! I figured they would not want to mess up their hair or makeup!! The younger kids of course were all in, slinging water EVERYWHERE and cackling the whole time. They also played a version of Hot Potato where they were all in a circle and tossing a stuffed vampire around. Fun! You also can’t go wrong with glow sticks and silly string, easy peasy – just pass them out and let the kids run wild!

Carving Pumpkins

We’ve had our pumpkins for weeks now.  But, somehow we almost let Halloween slip up on us without getting them carved.  We finally brought them inside to carve the night before Halloween.  Caeden and Lael both picked out their designs after much, much discussion and […]

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treating was almost painful!  Caeden got tired after about the 6th house and wanted to go home.  Todd had left with the kids to meet Chris and some others to start trick or treating.  I stayed behind to give out candy and then […]

Halloween Decorating

Halloween Decorating

I have had so much fun decorating for Halloween this year.  I had forgotten about all the stuff I had in storage, so it was fun to pull everything out and find a place for it.  I even had a blast decorating the outside, front and back.

My most favorite thing is the Countdown to Halloween collage I made.  Here is a bigger picture of it.

We’ve been Boo’ed

This is one of my favorite things about Halloween.  When we lived with Lynda last year, her neighborhood did it.  It was the first time I had heard of it, but we jumped right in.  This year it started on our street with Dylan.  His […]
